Good morning all,
I know millions of you out there on the inter-webs have been waiting patiently for the release of my new web series.
Well, It's finished, It's complete and it is ready to be shared with the world.
Throughout this process of reliving my navy days and writing about an extremely good friend of mine who has incredibly tough skin, I have found it wonderfully therapeutic. Even though it has been three years since I left the navy, it was still 4 years of my life where I met some amazing people and some shitty ones too.
I was so bitter by the end of my tour I was practically sprinting out, back to civilian life.
Because of my anger and my rush to get out, I was blinded, unable to see the experiences and friends I had left behind. Yes, sometimes it was hard and yes sometimes there were days without sleep and a angry chief yelling at you, but those time will never out weigh the friendships, and brothers you pick up along the way.
That being said, despite the tone of this web series. I enjoyed my time in the navy. I learned a lot about life and myself and I don't regret a thing. Unfortunately I only speak for myself.
Now with out further or do the pilot.
Enjoy,
- Ethan
INT. CAPT. OFFICE - DAY
The office of CAPTAIN SUAREZ (42), is in a make-shift courtroom.
A panel of high-ranking officers sit at a desk.
SEAMEN PERRY (25) stands in front of them in his dress uniform.
CAPTAIN SUAREZ
Step forward Seamen.
Seamen Perry steps.
SN PERRY
Seamen Perry reporting as ordered ma'am.
Perry stands still at attention with a thousand yard stare.
CAPTAIN SUAREZ
Do you know why you are here seamen Perry?
SN PERRY
No ma'am.
CAPTAIN SUAREZ
We hear from other sources you were at a party Friday night, is that true?
SN PERRY
Yes ma'am.
CAPTAIN SUAREZ
Was everyone at this party of age?
SN PERRY
I believe so ma'am.
MASTER CHIEF (40) with a stern face wearing a khaki uniform shoots out of his chair.
MASTER CHIEF
We didn't ask you what you fucking believe in shit bag!
Perry flinches.
SN PERRY
Yes Master Chief.
Master Chief sits back down with a smile under his mustache.
CAPTAIN SUAREZ
Why were you there Seamen Perry?
Seamen Perry glances at Master Chief waiting for approval.
Master Chief nods his head.
SN PERRY
I gave Seamen Hernandez a thousand dollars so she can go see her dying grandma, so she threw a party for me in return.
CAPTAIN SUAREZ
You're a good shipmate, Seamen Perry. But we have reason to believe there was drug use going on at this party, and you know the Navy has a zero tolerance policy.
SN PERRY
Yes ma'am, but I can assure you there were no drugs at this party.
Master Chief slams his fist on the desk before standing up.
MASTER CHIEF
I swear to god short dick! One more out burst from you and I will throw you out of this fine Navy right now!
Master Chief's scowl turns back to a smile as he sits down.
CAPTAIN SUAREZ
What do you have to say about this?
Captain Suarez holds up a picture, printed off of Facebook, of Seamen Hernandez with a can of whipped cream in her mouth.
Perry raises his eyebrow.
CAPTAIN SUAREZ
What do you think she is doing here?
Perry switches eye contact between Captain Suarez and Master Chief several times. He is now sweating.
SN PERRY
(Hesitant)
Eating whipped cream?
Master Chief shoots up.
MASTER CHIEF
That's it smart ass!
CAPTAIN SUAREZ
Seamen Perry please step outside.
Perry about faces and exits the make-shift courtroom.
INT. HALLWAY - DAY
Seamen Perry sits on a chair.
The hallway is full of sailors in their dress uniforms standing at attention, not talking.
SN PERRY
What the fuck?
SEAMEN SMITH (21) breaks his stature.
SN SMITH
What the hell was that?
SN PERRY
I. Don't. Know.
Time passes as Perry nervously bites his nails.
A man in khakis pokes his head out of the office.
MAN
Seamen Perry.
Perry stands and enters the office.
INT. CAPT. OFFICE - DAY
Perry walks forward and stands at attention.
CAPTAIN SUAREZ
Is there anything you would like to say before we tell you the verdict?
SN PERRY
Yes ma'am. I don't know what's going on. None of us did drugs at the party and I assure you, if there were drugs there, us sailors would have left.
Master Chief is clinching his fists and gritting his teeth while his face turns red.
CAPTAIN SUAREZ
Well, it seems as though you all have the same story.
Perry sighs with relief.
CAPTAIN SUAREZ
Which tells us you all did a good job at collaborating your stories.
Perry's eyes widen.
CAPTAIN SUAREZ
Seamen Perry. Due to your good marks here at Corpsman school we have decided not to kick you out of the navy. . . We are striping you of your orders to San Diego and sending you to Japan on the USS Denver as an undesignated sailor until the command deems you worthy for a proper job. We are stripping you of your rank and from here on out you will be known as Seamen Recruit.
A man with a knife walks over to Perry and cuts his rank badge off his uniform.
Perry's mouth is open with shock.
MASTER CHIEF
Close your mouth recruit! I can smell your lying breath from here.
Captain Suarez picks up her gavel.
CAPTAIN SUAREZ
You're dismissed Seamen Recruit.
She slams the gavel down hard.
